GUITAR CAMP: THE GROOVE LAB
LED BY ERIC LUNDGREN

Ages 12+
July 20-July 24
9:00am-3:00pm

ALL LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE ON ACOUSTIC, BASS AND ELECTRIC GUITAR WELCOME

The Groove Lab is a highly creative week-long music camp. Over the course of the week, guitar playing will be a central part of every day. We'll improvise, collaborate and groove together. We'll explore different musical genres of the students' choosing. Rock n' Roll, Pop, Country, Folk, Reggae, The Blues...you name it!  We'll examine what makes each of these styles unique and learn more about some of the legendary artists that have made these styles so popular. We'll also listen to classic tracks on vinyl records with headphones, do some hands-on rhythm work with a special guest percussionist, and play creative composition games, so that students can learn how songs are constructed and how to use those ideas to create their own music! On the final day of our week, families will be invited  to join us for an open session where we can share our exploration in a pressure-free and warm environment. The Groove Lab is designed for young people who are curious about music and want to understand it from the inside out — not just how to play songs on guitar, but how to think like real musicians!

Meet Eric:

Eric is an American Guitarist hailing from the rural countryside in northern Wisconsin. Raised on classic and psychedelic rock, Eric cut his teeth sitting in with the cover bands of the area playing songs by CCR, Bob Segar, and Three Dog Night to name a few. He went on to receive a formal music education studying contemporary and jazz guitar, arranging, and composition.

He spent his postsecondary years traveling on cruise ships performing Vegas style production shows, backing guest entertainers, and playing in bands covering anything from Ballroom Dance to Modern Radio Hits. Now based in Stratford, Eric has enjoyed building relationships with the many talented musicians in the area.

You can see him play the regular jazz nights at The Relic, live music nights at Starlight or curated performances with some of The Stratford Festival’s many talented singers, with one of his favorites being the 2023 PAL Fundraiser “Signed, Sealed, Delivered…The Hits of Motown”.

Eric is so excited for the opportunities the Flight program brings to the Stratford music community. Grab your instrument, bring your creativity, let's make some music!

Meet Silvana:

Silvana Bruni earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) from York University in 1999 and has maintained an active visual art practice ever since. Her career includes numerous solo and group exhibitions, gallery representation, private commissions, awards, and publications. Her work is held in private collections across Canada, the United States, and internationally.

Worn, battered drumheads—reflecting her years as a drummer in an indie rock band—and Lexan glass serve as Bruni’s signature canvases. These unique surfaces form the foundation of her autobiographical visual narratives. Informed by lived experience and inspired by the heart and practice of Zen Buddhism and yoga, her work explores daily observations, quandaries, insights, and moments of revelation. Her creative process is guided by a deep desire to observe, absorb, and engage more fully with life’s moments.

Alongside her studio practice, Bruni has developed a parallel career in arts education. She has taught since 2005 in private, gallery, and school settings. After earning her Bachelor of Education in 2012, she expanded her teaching practice to include occasional positions with the Avon Maitland District School Board, where she regularly integrates visual art into her work.
