SENIOR
Grades 7 - 12

September 18 - December 4, 2024 (12 weeks)
Wednesdays 6:30 – 8:30pm

Now that you have learned to play your chosen instrument, what should you do? This course is designed to take you to the next step! It is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the creative process of making music in a group with other musicians. Students will be exposed to different styles of music and not only learn their specific parts but also learn how their instrument functions within the genre, how their part relates and locks together with the other elements of the music and have some fun in the process while we make music happen together.

Requirements

  • You must have your own gear.

  • It is required that you have enough technical facility on your instrument to efficiently practice at home on your own time.

  • The ability to read music OR experience learning parts from recordings. Both are recommended as they are two halves of the same whole.

  • While there is not a specific age requirement, our general guideline is 14+ with a few years experience playing your instrument. This course is open to both intermediate and high school students. All potential participants will submit a video to highlight their current abilities.

  • A place where you can both practice your instrument and listen to reference recordings.

Session Tuition is paid in instalments.

Eric Lundgren

Eric is an American Guitarist hailing from the rural countryside in northern Wisconsin. Raised on classic and psychedelic rock, Eric cut his teeth sitting in with the cover bands of the area playing songs by CCR, Bob Segar, and Three Dog Night to name a few. He went on to receive a formal music education studying contemporary and jazz guitar, arranging, and composition.

He spent his postsecondary years traveling on cruise ships performing Vegas style production shows, backing guest entertainers, and playing in bands covering anything from Ballroom Dance to Modern Radio Hits. Now based in Stratford, Eric has enjoyed building relationships with the many talented musicians in the area.

You can see him play the regular jazz nights at The Relic, live music nights at Starlight or curated performances with some of The Stratford Festival’s many talented singers, with one of his favorites being the 2023 PAL Fundraiser “Signed, Sealed, Delivered…The Hits of Motown”.

Eric is so excited for the opportunities the Flight program brings to the Stratford music community. Grab your instrument, bring your creativity, let's make some music!
