In this class, young artists build a real art practice, one session at a time. The focus is on process-based making: trying materials, testing ideas, and learning that good work comes from repetition and play, not a single perfect result. Students will explore an assortment of artistic mediums through open-ended, hands-on projects designed to let their creativity flourish and their own voice emerge.

Studio Explorers runs across two sessions this year, and each builds on the habits and confidence developed in the last. Students are welcome to join for one session, though returning artists get the most out of continuing to practice and grow across both.

Session 2: January 11-May 17 (16 Weeks)

No classes Thanksgiving Weekend, Winter Break, Family Day Weekend, March Break, Easter Weekend

This course introduces students to the studio practice of a professional artist. Students will develop their own artistic point of view through open-ended, hands-on projects, building toward exhibitions where their work is shown. Students have the flexibility to shape projects around their own interests and goals: those who know what they want to explore are encouraged to help guide their own lessons, while those who prefer more direction will find that just as fully supported. The goal is a space where young artists can grow the work they’re already drawn to, at their own pace.

Studio Practice runs across two sessions this year, and each builds on the habits and confidence developed in the last. Students are welcome to join for one session, though returning artists get the most out of continuing to practice and grow across both.
